Meditations on Time

Following the Mineral Path is an exploration of the raw, timeless forces that shape our planet. Through multiple exposures and layering of positive and negative images, this body of work intertwines images of rock formations, mountains, and landscapes to evoke a profound sense of deep time – an era far older and more enduring than human history. Each photograph captures the slow yet inexorable movements of ice carving through ancient stone and the cataclysmic power of volcanic forces that once reshaped the earth’s surface. These layers of time and energy converge in a way that suggests not just the geography of the land, but the geological processes themselves – ice, fire, and the relentless pull of gravity, working in harmony and conflict over eons.

The interplay of textures, light, and shadow creates an atmosphere of both fragility and might. The repeated exposures echo the earth’s complex rhythm of construction and destruction, where every mountain peak and rocky crevice is a testament to an ongoing narrative of colossal movement, quiet but unstoppable. In this work, I aim to not only document the beauty and enormity of our planet’s forces but also invite us to confront the incomprehensible scale of time – where human life is but a fleeting moment in the geological unfolding of the earth.

Following the Mineral Path is both a meditation on the forces that have shaped the land and a contemplative journey through the living, breathing planet beneath our feet – one that constantly shifts and changes with a power that transcends human understanding.
